Ever since the lockdown in 2020, I’ve been fascinated with fashion; specifically sustainable fashion. What is sustainable fashion? This article by Eco Canada is a great resource to explain sustainable fashion, sometimes called slow fashion, to you.

I have a slight idea of how I want my blog to look, I want to separate this page into parts; Canadian brands, International brands, and Canadian small businesses I love. I might make some subcategories as well, to make it easier to find certain garments; like pants, dresses, or swim suits. I might also include plus-size thrift stores throughout Canada since there are so little and few. I want this page to be used as a resource for others to connect and discover their new favourite brand that actually fits them. I’m a big believer in inclusivity, it’s wild to think that some folks don’t have access to clothes they like.

I remember going into stores with my friends and noticing that most only carry sizes I cannot fit into, it made me feel like something was wrong with me, which isn’t true. The average Canadian and American woman are around a size 14-16, which are plus-sizes! Why is it so hard for a plus-size person to shop for clothes? An article for the Mcgill University’s paper, The Marlet, talks about gender and size inclusivity and how fast fashion companies aim to make clothes that make us feel small but what we need to address is why society’s so fixated on being small and hating themselves for being fat? Check out the article here.

I’ve also started to make a plan because planning is key if I want to organize myself and make the best resource EVER (maybe not ever but at least better than what I had on Wix). If you’d like to look over my plan (it isn’t finished but it’s started), you can check it out here!

So, this is getting long and I’m sure you’re going to drop off in any second, so let me finish with this; Fat isn’t a bad word, it’s a descriptor and nothing more. Society made us believe it’s an evil and scary word but there are so many brands out there who hold the same values I do. I want everyone to feel good about the clothes they’re wearing because it DOES make a difference! Hop on board if you want to follow along my journey, I promise it’ll be one free of shame and aimed to celebrate how beautiful you are. I’m happy you exist!
